The Freedom of the Open Road
Everyone wanting to buy a motorcycle needs to find a starting point. What kind of bike to buy, and the cost implications. Bike Insurance and licence – there are many things to consider before rushing into such a major purchase. Before taking any motorbike out on the road there is the need for a provisional licence and also to have taken the Compulsory Basic Training which is a one day course. This course can be booked at many centres around the UK and currently costs in the region of £100. It takes a full day to complete the five sections of the course, and the instructor will work at your pace to ensure that you are competent in each part before progressing to the next level. When booking the course, ask whether anything needs to be taken and what is provided. The great advantage of the basic training is that there isn’t any expectation of knowledge before attending. It is assumed that everyone is a complete novice.
Once the course has been taken and you have a provisional motorcycle licence then you are able to take a bike out on the public highway, obviously within the limitations of the licence. Ensure that the correct bike insurance is in place and that it covers everything which has been requested. The easiest way to pay for insurance is by monthly direct debit. Take care with choosing as some companies charge a fee for arranging direct debit payments. As there are many who don’t, spend a few extra minutes in finding a company to help you save money.
It is all too easy, once the provisional licence is there, not to rush into taking the test to hold a full motorcycle licence. The sooner this has been taken and passed, the quicker the insurance premiums will reduce. Many couples who ride motorbikes each have their own bike. They still go out together, but enjoy the experience of driving rather than just riding pillion. Many go on holidays together but on their individual bikes carrying all their clothing either in panniers or in boxes situated at the back of the bike. Understandably, many people thoroughly enjoy visiting and touring round the Scottish islands experiencing the narrow roads which are rarely overcrowded. Travelling by ferry from island to island and spending a few days on each, either in bed and breakfast accommodation or by taking a small tent with them they have the freedom of the open roads ahead of them. The only thing which cannot be controlled, as with all holidays in the UK, is the weather!

Tianchi Lake
You will find Tianchi Lake just north of Bagda Peak and out to the east of the Tian Shan Mountains. This lake was once known as Yaochi and is truly something to behold. This is one of the main tourist attractions in the country and you will probably come across a number of holiday tour buses on your travels. The surrounding peaks will more than likely be covered with snow because this lake lies 1,910 metres above sea level.
The picturesque location allows tourists to see fabulous alpine lakes and glaciated forests. It really is truly spectacular and Mount Bogda is something worth seeing while you are here. Holiday Villas for Families
A lot of people these days are taking trips to Europe but are taking care of booking the entire trip themselves. With most of us having less money to spend than we once did it is much more economical to book holidays separately instead of paying high prices for a package holiday. Although there are great deals to be found for couples and families of four in a travel agency, it is much harder for a family of five or six to get the same good deals. That is why many families are now choosing to take care of booking things like flights, accommodation, excursions and car hire Portugal and Spain are two countries where people are discovering that it is easier and often more economical to book holiday villas instead of booking to stay in a resort.
If you are thinking of taking care of booking your own holiday then you should have a look at the tips below:
-
There are many different options available when it comes to holiday villas and apartments. You should look for something that will have all the amenities that you are looking for and which will accommodate your party comfortably. Make sure there are enough beds for all guests but don’t go over the top and book a huge villa for just five people for example. This would just mean you are wasting money, no matter how nice the villa is.
-
Have a look at reviews and feedback from other tourists who have used the holiday home you are considering. It is important to hear what others have said before you go ahead and book. You may find that most people are complimentary on the site you have found the villa or apartment on. That is why you need to do a search of the name of the villa or apartment on one of the search engines. If anyone has had problems with it before then you are sure to come across it online.
-
If you are renting a holiday villa then you might want to think about car hire. Portugal and Spain have a number of car rental companies that you can book a car for the duration of your holiday. You may find this easier when it comes to getting around. If you are planning on hiring a car while you are on holiday, you should pre-book your car so that you will have it waiting when you arrive from the airport. This will also ensure that you get more choice about which car to rent.
-
Take a trip to the local supermarket when you get to your villa and stock up with essentials for your holiday. You will probably find that the cost of these items is quite low provided you don’t shop in a tourist area. Ask the owner of the villa for the best supermarket to visit before you go.
Maintaining Your Forge Dump Valves
As with any car part, maintaining your forge dump valves is an important part of keeping your car running. Not everybody knows how to work with forge dump valves, so here are a few tips to help you through the process. If you have a competent motor mechanic, you may feel that this information is not meant for you, but it is always useful to know what is being done to prevent you from being ripped off.
The obvious first step is to remove the valve. Then you need to place it on some newspaper (or another absorbent paper to protect your work area) and make sure that you’re working on a flat surface.
Next you will need an Allen key to remove the top of the valve. Make sure that you contain the spring inside the valve. If you don’t apply enough pressure, the spring could come loose and rocket across the room. If you’re not careful it could injure you quite badly.
Once you’ve got the top off, carefully remove the spring, the piston and any other components. Wipe each component clean with a cloth making sure that you remove all the old grease.
Now you can add the new grease to everything and prepare to replace the components. Before you put them back, it is important that you test each component thoroughly to make sure that it is still in working order. Once you’re satisfied, put all of the components back into the valve.
When replacing the valve’s top you need to make sure that you replace the screws evenly – i.e. on opposites sides until all of them are in place. You also need to make sure that the spring stays straight.
Now the valve is ready to be replaced. Once replaced you need to test drive your car to make sure that this part works well and to specification.
It does happen that the car can flutter a little bit when a new valve has been put in. This means that the spring coding is probably wrong and that the internal spring is either too strong or too weak. When you buy your forge dump valves, make sure that you buy the correct colour coding to avoid any problems with your car.
As with any component of a car, it is important to clean and service your forge dump valve regularly to prevent old grease from becoming sticky and affecting the performance of the car. The forge dump valve is an important part of your car’s performance and you certainly don’t want to neglect it at the cost of the performance that you require from your car.
